In Vietnam a great number of surplus NAVY ammunition boxes were handed over to the US troops. The NAVY ammunition container was a pressed strong and waterproofed all-steel construction. The boxes were very popular by US troops because they could be used of dry storage of cigarettes and other things easily damaged by wet. The 20mm NAVY ammo boxes can often be seen on AFVs as M48 Patton, M551 Sheridan or M113.
